Since its inaugural service in the Gulf of America in 2002, the Q4000 has established itself as a global leader in well intervention operations. It’s robust design and unique open deck layout make it an optimal platform for various tasks, including subsea well intervention, field and well decommissioning operations.
Key features of the Q4000 include a 600 metric ton multipurpose tower capable of performing all traditional derrick functions, a deepwater crane with a lifting capacity of 360 metric tons, and a work crane rated at 160 metric tons.
Additionally, the vessel boasts a 38-ft by 20-ft moonpool, a permanently installed 7-3/8-in 10,000 psi Intervention Riser System, a 3,000 m heavy weather ROV system and an overall deck capacity of 4,000 metric tons. The open deck design simplifies the loading and unloading of project supplies and equipment.
The Q4000 can be used for installation and recovery of subsea equipment, coiled tubing deployment, well testing, emergency well containment, drill top hole sections and is more cost-efficient than conventional deepwater drilling rigs used for well intervention activities.
